Oprah For A Day

could be any femaleIf I could be any female of notoriety for a day, there would be no question about who I would choose—Oprah Winfrey.

As a woman of minority descent, Oprah has been a role model to me since I was a little girl. I can remember watching Oprah’s show with my grandmother and she would tell me I could be just like Oprah one day if I wanted to be. I'm still working on that...

Oprah’s power and influence are unmatched. She has been named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Important People of the Century, and there are many claims that she is in fact the most influential woman in the world.

From her philanthropic efforts to her notorious book club, Oprah does it all. The Oprah empire is so expansive that it’s difficult to even put it down on paper. She is the definition of a powerful, successful woman who is not afraid to go after what she wants.

That is why if I were given the opportunity to be a female of notoriety for a day, I would undoubtedly choose Oprah. I can only imagine how it would feel to be Oprah. Despite the fact that she is a billionaire, she is still level-headed and hasn’t lost sight of what’s important in life.

I think it would be especially interesting to get a peek inside Oprah’s head now, given her recent, earth-shattering announcement that her talk show will come to an end in 2011. Not to worry Oprah fans—she is set to launch her very own television network, OWN early that same year.

She is a role model for women and girls around the world. She is rich, famous, and well respected. She is a thought leader, an activist, and a businesswoman. She is Oprah Winfrey and she is a living legacy.

In the last episode that I

In the last episode that I watched, Oprah apologized to Robin Givens for not handling an awkward situation when interviewing Given's former husband, Mike Tyson. Givens was upset so she wrote a harsh letter to Oprah. Oprah then brought her onto the show and publicly apologized to her and smoothed out the situation. I don't often watch her show, but it's actions like that which I find very admirable. In that moment, I found Oprah to be very humble despite all of her notoriety. Very cool.
