Thirsty Thursdays -- Anxious to start the weekend?

Hi fellow readers!
I will be your blogger every Thursday for the next 3 months. Oh how I like Thursdays. It just has a good ring to it. Doesn't it?
What is special about a Thursday?
Thirsty Thursdays! Yeah! It is a phrase/term for getting drunk on a Thursdays.
Urban Dictionary defines the phrase as follows:
A term normally found on college campuses, the title became popular when many people did not have early morning classes on Fridays, allowing them to drink and party on Thursday night.
Even though I have only been out of college for 2 years, it feels like forever (1 yr in real life=3 years in corporate life). When I read the Thirsty Thursday Urban Dictionary definition, I instantly said to myself “ooooooo yeah.” Since this tradition is carried on and on for years and years after college (adulthood), I had forgotten the origin.
Why do Thursdays make us want to PARRRR-TAY when the work week is not over yet?
1: Are we so anxious for the weekend that we feel the need to get the party started early?
2: Is this tradition embedded in us through 4 years of college?
3 Have bars capitalized on this concept and used clever marketing tactics to ease us in the party mood? (Am I really that much thirstier on Thursdays?)
4. Does Friday (as opposed to Thursday) seem more like a dinner/movie night?
5. You have an excuse for being hung-over at work the next day because "duh-yesterday was Thursday." (Is the work environment that much more chillax on Friday? I would say so.)
6. Every day of the week has its own connotation for an excuse to drink (Tipsy Tueday, Whacky Wednesday).
I'm sure these are all accurate reasons for this nonsense.
The main reason I like Thursdays is because people start smiling again and I like the taste of that.
Cheers to the upcoming weekend!
