Eating the Ambience
We live in an era where the word “healthy” perks up the ears of both men and women alike. With hundreds of different types of diets for a better body and perhaps thousands of suits against fast food chains, healthy diet is one of the important agendas of our lifestyles. The combination of the desire for a healthy body and the empty pockets during this bad economy, people have started to avoid eating out as much as possible. I, myself, love to eat in the comforts of my home with a healthy and inexpensive meal that leaves me feeling light. But eating out has its perks that I cannot completely give up, even though it might leave my belly a little too full and my wallet a little too thin.
I usually eat in as much as possible, training myself with the practical reasons against eating out. First of all, eating out is more expensive than whipping something up at home, which means that I leave myself in a danger of going broke if I eat out often. We also can’t control and probably do not know what goes into our food, which means that we might be eating a plateful of butter, sugar, and grease that are just waiting to wreck our diet and burst our waistlines. The kitchen and the food are the most sanitary, and I tend to eat more outside because of the large portion and the flavors of fatty ingredients that tantalize my taste buds.
On the other hand, when you buy the ingredients and make the food yourself, you can be more conscious of what goes into your body. Consequently, the food is healthier, cheaper, and sometimes tastes better because you suit the food to your taste by putting in the ingredients that you like. The yummy cheesy, buttery goodness of restaurant dishes is not so irresistible after you get addicted to homemade food.
As you can see, my personal perks of eating out are not about the food itself. What I love about eating out is that I get to eat the ambience along with my food. Every restaurant has a different aura; it has its unique group of customers, interior space, menu, and energy. It offers a change of environment from your usual dining table or the kitchen. This change of ambience is invigorating to the mind, because it takes you out of the monotony of being in the same place everyday. This is why I love trying out new restaurants. Not only do I get to try a new dish, but I also allow myself a novel change of pace and environment in my life. Eating out offers me a new experience, and now that is simply irresistible.
People have different preferences for eating, but I am definitely one of those people who need to both eat in and eat out. It’s true that eating out is not so healthy, but some say that moderation in everything is the best diet, right?
