Antics and Apologies - All For Show?

Wow, the last week has been filled with someone sending me a link and I subsequently get Kanye-rolled. I get it, he's on my website. It gave me a little chuckle the first time, but quickly lost its humor! What Kanye did was rude. Unprofessional. And even a Jackass thing to do, according to our President! It seems this past month that all of the sudden, people are trading decorum for rude outbursts - what gives them the right?!
I think the Kanye thing was a fake. MTV did this with Eminem and Sasha Baron Cohen during the MTV Movie Awards. They want people to talk about their award shows. So they got an already egotistical man to do it, and boom, it worked! Everyone was talking about it all week. How many people are going to be sure to tune in next year so they don't miss anything? Probably a huge number.
As for Joe Wilson, he was just out of line. Of course, I think he also did it to get a response, but that was totally uncalled for. I don't know how the other Congressmen feel, but I would find it hard to take Joe seriously after that outburst. It's like what I used to do with my students: you blurt out and I am not going to listen to what you have to say until you raise your hand and wait patiently. Thankfully, the House officially rebuked him earlier this week. If it were up to me though, he'd be asked to leave for good.
Serena Williams was punished for her outburst, and while it was not a minor punishment ($10,500, and possibly more to come), who knows if this will be the last we hear about Serena's temper tantrums. In fact, the way its been going, people are just going to get more bold about being rude and aggressive. And then they'll apologize, and we'll wait for the next outburst. Just because you are a big deal, apparently, doesn't mean you have to watch your words... though to be fair, we all think you are jerks!
Do you think the Kanye exchange was staged (and they are just better actors than Eminem)? Was Joe Wilson in the right to blurt out? Are you still going to watch Serena play tennis?

I don't think the Kanye
I don't think the Kanye exchange was staged. It's just too in character for him. If MTV did stage it though, I'd say it was a genious way to get free publicity.
As for Joe Wilson, he was way out of line.
And Serena? I'm a tennis fan so yes, I'll still watch her. I think what she said was also WAY out of line. But unlike Wilson, she's apologized numerous times. Hopefully she's sincere and this was an isolated incident.
Kanye, however, though he's "apologized" a few times as well, I don't think this is his last diva moment:P
