About Christina

My favorite thing in the world? Exploring. The last 3 years I have been exploring San Francisco, which is my current (possibly permanent?) hometown. Before SF, I explored Washington DC for 6 months (interning, working in an Irish bar, and wandering), Orange County for 5 years (college!) and Redlands/Loma Linda/Inland Empire (high school!).

I am currently a Science Teacher in Berkeley, where I help kids explore the wonders of Science, and the wonders of computers. I graduated from UC Irvine in Physics, minor in Spanish, and later a Teaching Credential in Science. I hablo español pretty good for a guera, and je parle une peu de français aussi. I love taking classes, and learning new and interesting things – this summer, it’s podcasting and digital media. Next fall, maybe Java or HTML.

On a random day, you can find me at a Giants game, getting riled up at our weekly pub quiz, playing bingo in a bar, or finding a new place for happy hour. I love the internet for such gems as Twitter, OkCupid, Google Docs, Google Maps, and sometimes Facebook. I have a podcast that explores San Francisco called “Paint The Town Green!” and I am addicted to Google Reader. I love to giggle and am always down for a comedy show, and love being around funny people. My car’s a manual and yes, hills in SF are hard to drive on but I totally dominate them. I practice my Spanish whenever I can, which lately has meant I go to Spanish happy hours I found on Meetup.com (did I mention I love the internet?). Crosswords are my friends, though I only attempt the Mondays, at least til I can finish one myself. I can finish a book in a week if I take the BART to work and back each day, and if I only listen to my music quietly. If the music is loud, it’s Regina Spektor, Kanye West, Queen, Decemberists, Death Cab for Cutie, Spoon, MGMT, or Outkast. And, I am my happiest when I am with good friends and either dancing or karokeing!
