One Wish, Two Wish, Three Wish

Rae: “So Janae, if you were given three wishes, what would they be?”
Janae: “Uhmmmmmm….that’s a good question…”
So I’ll be real with you. When I first read this question I thought to myself: I’d like to be wealthy, I’d like to own a successful/profitable magazine, and I’d like to marry well. I know what you’re thinking…my list seems a little selfish right?...'Cause I think so. It’s a little too geared towards my own benefits.
Second time around to this question, I challenged myself to think of another three different wishes that that didn’t center on me or directly benefit myself. With that said, I came up with this list:
1. I’d wish that there would be a cure for any and all forms of cancer.
Did you know that there are over 16 different forms of cancer, with each having their own subcategories of cancer – some with as many as 10 subcategories? In 2006, there was reported a number of 559,888 deaths within the U.S. alone (National Vital Statistics Reports, 2009). Some may say, "Well, what about AIDS??? Why did you pick cancer over Aids?" I choose cancer because most forms of cancer found within individuals have no rhyme or reason to their existence. You could be a healthy 5-year-old boy, or an athletic 55-year-old woman and suddenly be diagnosed with cancer…I have a problem with that.
2. I’d wish that teleportation was real and served as our main form of transportation.
I bet this one looks goofy, but for real!...How cool would it be to teleport? No more traffic. Less pollution. Decrease in the probability of one running late…the list goes on and on. This wish would benefit both man and society alone. I think it’s genius…hurry up Scottie!
3. I’d wish that teachers became the highest paid individuals in the country.
Why? I think it’s unrealistic that our athletes make more money than our educators – educators that are trained to edify the future generations of our time. If this came to pass, I think that people would take school and the importance of acquiring an education more seriously. They’d feel honored to be taught by such “fêted” individuals. Therefore, not only would the general public become more knowledgeable, but individuals would also be supplied with a more premium form of education; Hopefully, causing them to believe in the rewards of acquiring an education, versus aspiring towards fantasies of becoming a rapper or a pro-basketball player in order to get rich quick. Imagine how cool it would be to live in a society where knowledge, advancement, and intellect was celebrated. What if it was cool to be smart? I think we'd get a lot more accomplished as a society. Random…but I believe it to be so.

Ok, so I saw my name and I was like "Now I gotta comment!!" LOL.
I totally dig your wishes gurl. LIke, no joke. I think that cancer is one of those diseases that affects SO many people that you would think there would be a cure. My aunt is a three time cancer survivor... our family attributes it to the treatment she received, drastically changing her diet to entirely organic food, and prayer. But not everyone has access to those types of doctors or can afford a holistic diet.
I have an aunt right now in stage 3 stomach cancer. The doctors have said she's on a "timeline" now but they're still going to go through with 12 more rounds of chemo. This is after the initial 3 rounds and surgery. It's been really hard on her and her family but their spirits are still high.
I totally dig your first wish.
Wow!
I'm so sorry Rae to hear about your Aunt.....this is seriously a big deal! I don't think a lot of people really think of Cancer and it's effects unless it happens directly to them. I'm praying for you and your family during this rough time.
Love - JJ
