Spin is expected for politicians, but does she think we are going to buy the whole martyr act she’s trying to position herself in? She has outwardly said in CNN interviews that her family is in debt and the Alaskan government is dealing with numerous lawsuits and corruption charges, but she thinks it would be best for her to step down at a time when her state needs their Governor most. Ok, so perhaps she is right; if she cannot handle it maybe it is best for her to leave and let someone more qualified deal with the tough times.

 

My suspicions are that she is resigning not for the greater good of Alaska but the greater good of Palin. If she comes down to the lower 48 and does speaking tours, she will not only pay off her family debt, but also keep her name in the limelight. Perhaps she is doing this because she wants to run for President in 2012 and being up in Alaska doesn’t afford one the air time or name recognition needed. Although I would hope the Republican Party would not let Palin run, it would make for some interesting news. November 2012 is a long way off and, in my opinion, Obama is going to be a very hard candidate for anyone to defeat. Maybe this is why Palin is trying to get the ball rolling in 2009. Of course this is all speculation at this point, but common sense does lead me to believe she has something up her hockey mom sleeve.
