What's In A Name?

This is something I’ve learned recently that I think is really fun and, in some cases, pretty mind-blowing. Most people are familiar with the fact that names have meanings, but it seems like something people only look up when they are naming their child. Recently, I learned that every time a person says another’s name they are speaking the meaning of that name into the life of that person. Imagine if your parents constantly called you a bad name (or maybe you don’t have to imagine) then you would likely agree that what a person speaks into you will affect you. If you tripped and fell and your dad said, “Failure! Way to go, failure!” from the time you were very young, you will most likely grow up believing him. Likewise, if he constantly called you “champion”. You get the idea.
What Do You Treasure?

I have heard that where you spend your time and your money will reveal what it is that you love. This makes a lot of sense. It seems that time and money are the most important things to us. Interestingly, they are both so polar opposite, yet so much the same. Money is one of the most easily replaced things on earth. Time is impossible to get back. Money, however, is usually earned by exchanging our time for it. Money has value in what it can buy. Time has value because we know it is limited.

The "Secret"?
Submitted by Krystal on Tue, 09/29/2009 - 12:30
In a culture so inebriated with things like “The Secret,” it seems common knowledge that our thoughts have a great deal of influence on not only our behavior, but our situation. Try to remember back five years ago. Where did you picture yourself five years from then? Is it quite close to where you are now? Maybe you don’t like where you are today. I would venture to guess that you didn’t know where you would be. You probably didn’t have a plan. If you did have a five-year plan five years ago you probably are there now, or very close to it.
Are We Truly Free?

Are we truly free? We live in a free country. At least that’s what we are told… For all intents and purposes here, let‘s say that we do live in a free country so we don't go off on a political tangent. If we live in a free country what defines that? What makes our country “free”? Does it cost nothing to live here? Of course it costs something. Do we get to go anywhere, any time? That could be trespassing. Can we do anything that we want? Not if what we want to do causes harm to another person or breaks the law. So then are we actually free? We are not slaves.
