The Sorbate: When Notable People Break Decorum
It's Called Knowing When To Shut Up

One of the first things I had to learn when I moved to America was how to speak up. I always had to make sure to talk out loud, or jump into a conversation, before getting lost in a stream of chatter. You see, Americans are in love with the fact that they can express themselves freely and talking seems to be the number one form of doing so. Just about anyone with an opinion, comment, or complaint can say anything nice or, for the matter, say anything except something nice.

Antics and Apologies - All For Show?
Submitted by Christina on Tue, 09/22/2009 - 12:29
Wow, the last week has been filled with someone sending me a link and I subsequently get Kanye-rolled. I get it, he's on my website. It gave me a little chuckle the first time, but quickly lost its humor! What Kanye did was rude. Unprofessional. And even a Jackass thing to do, according to our President! It seems this past month that all of the sudden, people are trading decorum for rude outbursts - what gives them the right?!
Wilson, West and Williams: How Valuable Were Their Apologies?

o one is perfect. People make mistakes all the time. From saying something you don’t really mean to acting inappropriately in front of others, we’ve probably all wished we had a rewind button for life once in awhile.
However, when people of importance make mistakes, the pieces are much harder to put back together. Recently, there have been a few incidents where people of stature have acted in ways that have raised many eyebrows. The objectionable actions of Joe Wilson, Kanye West and Serena Williams have many people wondering if there is something in the water.

Breaking Decorum? Are you Surprised?

So I’m going to play the devil’s advocate on this one, just because…
Let’s start with Serena Williams:
Yes, Serena Williams was at fault for saying, “I’ll kill you,” and cursing out the line judge. She deserved to be punished for her actions. Which she was. She lost the match. Point blank period. There should be no more discussion about the matter.

Jimmy Carter: Keeping It Real

Outbursts in the public form are all the rage these days; from Serena Williams berating that lineswoman to Kanye West stealing Taylor Swift’s thunder. Sure these are headline worthy and shocking, but the people they disrespected were not the President of the United States. Kanye is getting more flack than Joe Wilson, don’t get me wrong I feel bad for poor little Taylor, BUT how does that get more attention than Representative Joe Wilson yelling, “You lie!” during a live congressional speech by the President of the United States of America?
