Top 5 Things I Learned When I Turned 30

top 51.    You realize things don’t go downhill
I must admit, the day before I turned 30 I had a slight panic attack. I had this vision that I was going to wake up the next day with a face full of wrinkles, sagging breasts and a big gut. Wrong! Don’t listen to stories that other women tell you. We already have a tough time with media affecting the way we view ourselves. If you live an active and healthy lifestyle, there is nothing to worry about. I know it's not the best example, but if you look at Kelly Ripa or Demi Moore or even other 30 plus something’s you know they still look fabulous. Granted the two I have mentioned are celebrities, to whom looking good is part of the job description, it still gives us common womenfolk hope. There is nothing impossible when you put your mind into it and that includes looking hot at 30…or 40…or 50!

Top Five Things Teachers Deserve (Besides More Money*)

5

top 55) More supplies. Teachers should not have to pay out of pocket for basic classroom necessities, especially when you consider an average high school teacher sees 150 kids a day. That's a lot of pencils, notebooks, or science supplies. Sure, there are grants we could write, but that takes a lot of time, of which we have little. Besides, we would rather spend time with the students than spend time writing grants for simple things that every office supplies for their employees.

Top 5 Reasons To Go To Australia

top 55.  People and Culture:

Australians are known for their laidback attitudes and surfer personas. As cliché as it sounds it is true; as an American visiting I met numerous people, both at work and leisure, and can honestly say everyone seemed to have a calmer and more friendly demeanor than those of my home country. Perhaps it is the countless beaches. But I think it is the outdoor lifestyle most lead and the values that they place on family. For instance the stores (i.e. shopping malls) close at 5pm in Sydney; I asked a coworker why and his response was, “It’s the evening its time to go have dinner with family and friends.”

A Few Life Lessons

5

top 5I thought I’d share the 2 most influential and thought provoking life lessons that I’ve learned thus far in my life. Hope they are as helpful to you as they have been for me.

1. Accepting Singleness

While reading an article in Relevant magazine about relationships, I stumbled across this incredible quote from Anne Sims which read:

"Singleness is about adventure, self-esteem, and growing up. And it's about you owning your soul, until it's time to give it away to the one who gives it back to you, with theirs...it's who you are while your single that sets the course for who you'll be all your life." (Relevant, 2009)

Military Smoking Ban—Sir No Sir!

4

top 5A recent report issued by the Institute of Medicine has sparked much debate by calling for a smoking ban in the United States military. The study, which was commissioned by the Pentagon, cites high “health and economic costs” as reason to implement a ban that would eventually phase-out tobacco use in the military.

By now, it’s no secret that smoking can be a deadly habit, but despite its dangers, smoking is not illegal for those of age. Many people use smoking as an outlet for stress relief. So it’s no wonder why tobacco use continues to rise among those in one of the most emotionally and physically demanding professions—the U.S. military.
