The Sorbate: Alaska Governor Sarah Palin Resigns
Soon To Be Ex-Governor Palin
Submitted by Kristin on Tue, 07/14/2009 - 12:30
We all have heard the cliché break up line, “It’s not you it’s me, this is better for you, trust me.” Well Alaska you just got dumped by soon to be Ex-Governor Sarah Palin. She claims that this will be the best for Alaska and that she is not quitting, but the very definition of resign is to give up office/position. So quitting and giving up are different in what sense? It all seems very ironic; a few months ago she was pumping her fist in the air preaching her mottos of “moxie”, “ being a maverick”, and “country first,” and yet she stands here now leaving her elected position as Governor 18 months early

The Palin Chronicles - The Nonsensicality Continues
Submitted by Janae on Tue, 07/14/2009 - 12:29
It has been announced that Governor Sarah Palin is stepping down as Alaska’s chief executive by the end of the month. Is anyone really surprised? Sarah seemed inept, attention hungry, and full of hot air since the moment she stepped foot in the election.
In response to Palin’s announcement, DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse stated, "Either Sarah Palin is leaving the people of Alaska high and dry to pursue her long-shot national political ambitions, or she simply can't handle the job now that her popularity has dimmed and oil revenues are down” (CNN, 2009).

Palin Didn’t Drop the Ball, She Set it Down and Walked Off the Court

When Sarah Palin announced she would leave her position as governor of Alaska before her term was complete, it was quite surprising for many on both sides of the political spectrum.
Mrs. Palin, who can’t seem to answer a question without using an analogy, said she knows “when it’s time to pass the ball.” How humbling—Palin isn’t afraid to let someone take over because she doesn’t feel like playing anymore.

Something Smells Fishy in Alaska

It was early Wednesday morning and I was tuning in to CNN to get the latest on the Michael Jackson memorial. The screen was showing LA getting ready for one of the biggest funerals in world history. Then it cut to the next story - Sarah Palin’s interview with reporter Drew Griffin. I honestly could not help but roll my eyes when I saw her beside the shores of Dillingham, Alaska with waders, a ponytail, and glasses on. Gimmick. The word popped in my head. Another attempt to win the masses by showing how much she is part of the “unpretentious, very hard working heartland of America community”.

Quitting = Political Advancement?
Submitted by Christina on Tue, 07/14/2009 - 12:26
I think Sarah Palin should not have resigned. Her reason was that she didn't want to be a lame duck because she "thought about, well, how much fun some governors have as lame ducks... Many just accept that lame duck status and they hit the road, they draw a paycheck, they kind of milk it, and I’m not going to put Alaskans through that." But in reality, she is probably either selfishly leaving so she can focus on trying to get a bid for the 2012 election, or she is tired of all the inconveniences of being governor. Is it worth it for her to leave to focus on bigger politics? Or is it forgivable for her to step down to avoid the pitfalls of being in politics?
