The Sorbate: Potpourri Week

Oh, Sweet Relief

Oh sweet relief. Thank you Democrats for voting yes on health care reform, for not allowing the process to continue stalling, for allowing us uninsured Americans to stop holding our breath.

Films - Ruining Movies One Shot at a Time

4.8

It is difficult not to grimace when someone says they are going to go see a “film.” C’mon, it’s the movies. Not a film. What are you? Some kind of snobby cinema elitist (cinemalitist?)? Oh, it really gets under the skin. 'Til I took a film class, later became a film minor, and somehow became a “film” person.

A Nostalgic Menu

Being young was so much simpler. Everything was easier; everything was less complicated. Everything tasted better. I've heard all of these conflicting facts. They say that you have to grow into your taste buds. That you develop a taste for something after you try it 14 times. That you've started to lose a vast majority of your ability to taste food by the time you hit 60-years old. That your taste buds replace themselves every two weeks. So why is it that I enjoy the foods that I used to eat when I was young the most of all of my favorite foods?

Master Cleanse: A 10 Day Journey Back To Square 1

Master Cleanse. I first heard about this last year. I started training for my first marathon and was looking at ways to improve my diet so I could lose unwanted fat. Two friends recommended the Master Cleanse, or lemonade diet. It consists of consuming a mixture of water, lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper up to 12 times a day for a minimum of 10 days. It also includes the use of a nightly laxative. The main goal of the Master Cleanse is to flush toxins out of the body, detoxifying and losing weight in the process. The cleanse started gaining more popularity when pop star Beyonce did one before shooting Dreamgirls, reportedly losing 20 pounds.
