For 2010 Geolocation is the new buzzword for the online community.  Last year, services such as Loopt and Google Latitude became popular applications that allowed people to share their real-time location with friends through any Internet-connected device. Experts think that this will continue to catch on for 2010. More businesses will offer location-based services that will allow you to identify exactly where objects and other people are. Even photos and videos  can now be “geotagged”. Mashable.com has an excellent article that will give you a detailed account of what it would look like here.

2010 predictions2010 Predictions:

1. Facebook will continue to grow.

There are those who seem to be of the opinion that Facebook has reached its final plateau. Because of its similarities to MySpace, the success of which turned out to be a bell curve, many in the media world have forecasted that Facebook is about to start falling off in terms of members/traffic. I disagree. While the technical functions of Facebook are the same as on MySpace (connecting to others, leaving comments and messages, sharing photos), Facebook lets you do the same things in a very different way – less gunk, junk, and clutter. Facebook established and maintained an operation that looks and feels ageless. It’s not something you grow into or out of. Plus, their targeted advertising and monetization of successful applications to me means that this will be the best year yet for Facebook. I think they are closer than ever to becoming profitable.

What will 2010 mean to us?

2010 predictions2009 has finally come to an end and millions of people couldn’t be happier about it. It was a year of extreme highs and lows. We saw the magnificent accomplishment of Barack Obama’s successful presidential campaign and experienced the tumultuous downfall of the job market due to the economic crisis. Through it all, we somehow managed to survive the year, just barely, and make our way into 2010.

More discrimination:

When it comes to recharging my own batteries versus my cell phone’s.

When it comes to clicking the “change” or “ ignore” button in the spell check of life.

When it comes to filling my ears with youtunes instead of itunes.
